Private tour Baztan Valley, Hidalgos, Marquess and smugglers

On this tour, we invite you to discover the land of Hidalgos, Marquess and Smugglers and where some important battles were liberated.

We will leave San Sebastian, take the road 121 A, into the green mountainous valley. On the way, you will see the Bidasoa river, left and right, and the belfries of the various villages.

The first stop will be Elizondo, the capital of the valley. There you will be able to see various palatial houses and the monumental buildings. We will pass through the Jaime Urrutia and Braulio Iriarte streets on the banks of which are some of the most magnificent houses.
You will pass the bridge from where you can see the Txokoto dam and then visit the church, which was heavily damaged in 1913 by the floods and had to be rebuilt on the current site.

Later we will drive to Amaiur, where we will visit the remains of the castle, which was a place of resistance in front of the troops of Ferdinand the Catholic. After visiting the castle, you will go to an old mill, where you can enjoy a beautiful handmade Talo (typical Basque cake made from corn).

From here, you will be driven to Irurita. In this place you will be able to see and visit the impressive palaces of Goyeneche dukes or the Jauregia palace. At the Jauregia Palace, a guided tour will take place, where you will be told some of the details of the family history.

Before we finish our tour we will deviate from the route and drive to the idyllic village, Ziga. From this village, where you have the opportunity to have one of the most beautiful views of the valley.

Then we will drive to San Sebastian to end the day.

We will arrive back to San Sebastian around 17 o’clock.
