Tour Description

In this private tour, we will offer you the possibility of discovering and getting to know in first person the exciting world of the winemaking process. You will also have the opportunity to taste different wines, depending on the type of grape and aging used for its aging. We have designed a tour for you to visit three wineries, so you can compare their different wines and learn about the importance of wine in this area.

We will start the day by picking you up from your respective accommodation and we will go into this spectacular region, with its contrasts, its colorful landscapes that go from ochre, yellowish to green depending on the time of year and the vineyards that fill its fields.

Our first stop will be a traditional winery, one of the oldest, where our guide will explain in detail the winemaking process and where you will taste local wines accompanied by typical regional products such as chorizo, cheese, etc.

At the second stop, which is only 5 minutes away on foot, we will taste two more different wines, so that we can compare the different types of grapes used to make them.

Then we will take the car to go to the last winery which is located in a privileged place, with spectacular views of the Sierra de Cantabria. From this place during the whole tour you will be able to admire and enjoy the incredible views that we will have from the valley, and with the Sierra de Cameros in the background.

This winery is a small family run business and here the guide will explain the history of a family with a winemaking tradition. Here you will be able to taste again their own made wines accompanied by cheese and an excellent olive oil.

Finally, we will go to a local restaurant where you will be able to taste the typical Riojan menu, which consists of Rioja-style potatoes and grilled lamb chops, all of this of course accompanied by an authentic Rioja wine.

08:30 - 10:00 Discovering wine areas

To enjoy and discover this wonderful region of La Rioja, is our goal during this full day tour. We will start at 8.30 am at your hotel or accommodation and our private guide will pick you up to make you spend a spectacular day in one of the best wine producing regions of our country. During the trip you will be able to observe how the landscape changes, going from some totally green areas to others that are a little drier, to finally arrive at a place where the land has a yellowish colour.

10:00 - 11:45 How wine is made

A little before 10 am, we will be arriving in Haro, where the first two visits will take place. The first visit will last around 1.30 hours and during it, our guide will give you detailed information on the winemaking process, from destemming to ageing, including the fermentation processes. You will also be able to see the different tanks through which the wine passes before being stored in the barrels for ageing.

11:45 - 13:30 Wine tasting

At about 11:45 we’ll walk to the second stop. There we will have a tasting of two wines, with the subsequent explanation by the guide. This is a winery with a higher production and a different style from the one visited in the first place.

Around 12.45 we will go by car to the last winery. On the way you will enjoy the spectacular views that this region offers, having on one side the Sierra de Cantabria and on the other the valley with its different plots and colours. A spectacle for the eyes! Once in the winery, you will be presented with the different wines and will be able to taste 4 wines.

13:30 - 17:30 Local gastronomy

Around 13.30 we will take the car again to go to the restaurant where an excellent local menu is waiting for us. Here we will enjoy a menu meal, with Rioja-style potatoes and roast lamb chops, wine and dessert.
After the meal, we will go back to your accommodation, where we will arrive at around 17 – 17,30
